Philote app terms

The terms for using and buying the Mac app. If you also use the web and server (Philote Cloud), its Terms of Service apply too.

What you are buying

The Philote app gathers the AI coding sessions (Claude Code, Codex) running on this Mac into one screen and takes you to the right window when you tap one. It runs on this Mac. After buying, you sign in once with your purchase email.

Price and trial

• Use every feature for 14 days without an account.
• The app is a one-time $19. It is not a subscription.
• After buying, you sign in with your purchase email in the app — enter the 6-digit code we email you. There is no password.
• You get every new version released within 1 year of purchase. After that, the versions you have keep working.
• A Philote Cloud subscription ($10 per seat per month) includes the app, so subscribers don't buy it separately.
• If you don't buy after the trial, the board (⌃⇧Space) and jumping to windows from the menu stop and a purchase screen appears. Hooks keep recording, so everything carries over when you buy.
• There may be time-limited launch or promotional discounts and discount codes. The list price is the amount above, and any discount is shown in the checkout.
• Sales tax or VAT may apply depending on your country. The checkout shows the final amount.

License

• You may use the app on up to 3 Macs you personally use. Macs unused for 90 days drop off on their own, and you can remove one in the app's settings or at philote.app/account.
• Don't share your sign-in (purchase email) with others. For several people, buy one per person.
• Don't modify or reverse-engineer the app to get around the license check, except where the law allows it.
• The app remains the seller's property. What you buy is the right to use it.

Payment

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. It processes your payment and issues your receipt. Your card details never reach us.

Withdrawal

The app is digital content delivered the moment you download it, so statutory withdrawal rights may be limited where the law allows (for example Korea's E-Commerce Act, Art. 17(2)5). That is why you can try it for 14 days first. Even so, ask within 14 days of purchase and we refund in full, no questions asked. See "App refunds".

The AI tools

Philote is an independent product, not affiliated with Anthropic (Claude Code) or OpenAI (Codex, ChatGPT). You use those tools under their own terms. Philote reads the files they leave on this Mac and, if you allow it, adds Philote hooks to their settings.

No warranty

The app is provided as is. Session status and work history are built from files the AI tools write, so they can be wrong or late. Check anything important yourself. Changes to macOS or the AI tools can break some features for a while.

Limits of liability

Our liability for any loss caused by the app is limited to what you paid for it. This limit does not apply to intent or gross negligence, or to anything the law does not allow us to limit (injury, privacy violations and so on). It never reduces the rights your local consumer law gives you.

Privacy

What the app reads and writes on this Mac is in "App privacy notice". If you connect a server, that server's privacy policy applies too.

Changes

When these terms change we say so in the settings of the new version and on the web. Changes that are worse for you do not apply to a license you already bought.

If other plans such as Philote Cloud arrive, the app you bought keeps working. You move to a new plan only if you choose to.

If we ever shut down the sign-in server, we will release a final version that runs without signing in, so buyers can keep using it.

Disputes

Talk to us first at the contact below. If that doesn't settle it, the law of (governing law — set after incorporation) applies, in (courts — set after incorporation).
